1917.

Origins of Pionir

A candy and chocolate factory named Braća Ruff was founded in Subotica – one of the most renowned factories in pre-war Yugoslavia and the predecessor of today’s Pionir. That same year marked the birth of Pionir’s oldest brand – Menthol Candies, which still preserves its iconic hexagonal shape.

1928.

The Chimney Sweep Arrives

Pionir’s most iconic filled candy brand, NEGRO, is created. Beloved as the throat’s chimney sweep, it has always clearly conveyed the health benefits of liquorice and mint.

1930.

Production Expansion

The factory grows and is divided into four departments: drops, chocolate, dessert, and packaging.

1946.

A New Era

The factory is nationalized and becomes socially owned, continuing its operations and preserving existing brands.

1951.

Galeb Chocolate

The first Galeb chocolate is produced, giving birth to a brand that lives on to this day.

1959.

Hazelnut Caramel

Hazelnut Caramel is created – an undisputed leader in its category and a recipient of numerous quality awards.

1961.

Coconut and Chestnut

The first hand-shaped Coconut and Chestnut chocolate bars are made this year. With technological progress and investment in production lines, their manufacturing was modernized, but the original recipe was preserved.

1964.

Mignon Cubes

Mignon Cubes entered production this year and have remained a constant on the market, especially cherished across regional markets.

1978.

The Heart You Remember

Honey Heart – the first true gingerbread is created. The old masters’ honey dough recipe has been carefully preserved and passed down through generations of technologists.

1998.

A New Beginning

Following privatization in 1998, Pionir enters a new phase of rapid growth and development, modernizing production and embracing a contemporary business model.

1999.

A bite of childhood

The KIDY brand is created, a chocolate bar that has long been the holder of the title of the best-selling domestic bar.

2001.

MONY Rice

Mony Rice is created. Cocoa flavoured cream sweet bar with puffed rice and cocoa cream topping.
Favourite among consumers and recognizable on the market.

2010.

A healthier choice

Entering the cereal bar category, a major investment and the launch of Vitanova cereal bars on the market.

2017.

100 years

Pionir celebrates 100 years. A century-long tradition is celebrated with a series of activities in the anniversary year. The first Galeb chocolate with 80% cocoa parts and a version of it “without added sugar”

2021.

Honey Pretzels

The house of real gingerbread launched Honey Pretzels on the market this year, which quickly found their way to the hearts of gingerbread lovers.

2024.

New cereal bars

The Vitanova No Sugar Added category gets new product lines “without added sugar”: date-based biscuits in three versions and three versions of cereal bars.
